When will this train slow down?
Ask any mom, and they will tell you the same thing…the last couple of weeks of school are always a chaotic whirlwind with one activity right after the other. In the past, I have always been pretty good about just picking one thing to participate in/help with, and then I sit out the rest. Mostly because I couldn’t take every day off of work for two weeks straight.
This year was different. I am a full-time blogger now, so my schedule is flexible (I told myself), so I decided to do ALL OF THE THINGS, and today it caught up with me. As I sit down to type this meal plan post, my mind is mush. I’m wiped, and I can’t think of anything super amazing to say on here.
Rather than try to talk about the blog today, or even the recipes for that matter, I decided I would just take a moment to share some pictures of what we have been up to in the past couple of weeks. To keep things brief, I have compiled just a few pictures together, and I will be sharing a sentence or two about each one.
Not interested? No problem. Jump to the list of recipes for this week here.
A peek into my momma life.
1. Career day.
My husband and I had the honor of going into our daughter’s 5th grade class on career day yesterday. As I prepared what I was going to tell the kids, it dawned on me that blogging wasn’t even a thing when I was their age! Like, it just did not exist, because they had not been created yet. In fact, the world wide web didn’t even exist until I was about 8 years old.
Who even knows what kinds of things will open up to these kids by the time they are adults!
2. Field day.
It just wouldn’t be the end of the school year if there wasn’t a field day, would it? I was able to get a couple of shots of Keely and Kipton in their element, wild and free.
3. Celebrating our new National Junior Honor Society Inductee and Poetry Cafe Author.
In the morning on Wednesday, my husband and I got to go watch our youngest do a poetry cafe, where coffee was served and the third graders shared their poems with us. It was precious…and delicious. Then, later that evening, we watched our oldest walk across a stage and shake hands while they announced him as one of the official members of the National Junior Honor Society. Proud of you, boys!!
4. House stuff.
We got new siding on our house…which was super exciting and inspired all kinds of other great outdoor projects. One of the projects my daughter helped me tackle was power washing our front porch that needed it really, really bad. I just have to say, this girl is NOT afraid of work. Proud of you, Keels!
5. I will be starting online classes in the fall!
At career day yesterday, I told the kids that I didn’t start making money on the blog right away and that, in the beginning, I had to work other jobs at the same time I did the blog. One of the kids asked me what other jobs I had prior to being a blogger. Unfortunately, we ran out time, so I wasn’t able to rattle off my super extensive (and not-so-impressive) employment history. (BUMMER!)
I am hoping to add just one more job to my list in a couple of years. Starting in the fall of 2019, I am going to be working toward a mental health counseling degree at Indiana Wesleyan University! This is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time, but the timing was never right, so I am excited to finally be at this point. Nothing will change in terms of the blog, but I thought I would mention it since it is something I have been working toward for a little while now and something I am really looking forward to.
6. Mother’s Day!
And, of course, we celebrated Mother’s day last Sunday. This is my crew right here. My husband took this picture at our church. All of the moms in this picture are like sisters to me, three of the kids are my own, and to the rest I am Auntie Alisha…I mean, none of them call me that – it’s more like the name I give myself.
Okay, so now that you are all up to speed with my crazy life, let’s get to what you really came here for in the first place – the free meal plan…
