About MPM

Meal Planning Mommies is a resource that dishes up WW friendly meal plans, recipes and other resources while encouraging our readers, to find satisfaction, enjoyment and peace of mind in the kitchen!

BEHIND THE APRON

Meet Alisha Hughes

Hi, it’s me… Alisha!

Thanks for checking out Meal Planning Mommies!! This is a recipe blog that kicked off in 2008 with three college friends who were exploring motherhood all around the same time. Our children were just babies when we started. We shared things like “How to Make Your Own Baby Food” and “Toddler Snacks” as well as the dinners we prepared for ourselves, our kids, and our husbands. Over the years, we have been blessed to journey alongside many young moms… and now also grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, dads, etc.

While the name of this blog, Meal Planning Mommies, has not changed, the reach of who it helps has. Over the years, Meal Planning Mommies has evolved into a recipe website that is for people in all different walks and seasons of life who are just looking for a little extra inspiration in the kitchen. If you are interested in learning more about the evolution of Meal Planning Mommies and how we went from three bloggers to two, and then to one, you can find that here.

At this point in time, I am taking a break from regularly updating the blog as I am pouring myself into my new career in counseling while tending to the needs of my family, but I am thrilled that people are still finding the recipes and resources on here to be helpful for them!

No matter what season of life you are in my hope is that the recipes, meal plans, ebooks, and lists will alleviate stress and help you to be more efficient in the kitchen while enjoy cooking more!

Alisha, I’m very pleased with your WW SmartPoints meal plans, and excited to find that they usually result in larger portions than those in typical frozen entrees. One addition to your weekly printable meal plan would be very helpful for those of us who cook only for ourselves: servings per recipe. I often don’t have freezer space for, say, seven servings of soup, and if the recipe isn’t easily halved, I’ll look for an alternative.

Good point Christina!! Thank you. You certainly are not the only who has let us know that you are cooking for one. I will keep that in mind and definitely think about how to incorporate serving sizes in the future. We are continually looking for ways improve and always appreciate feedback, so thank you. 🙂

    Hi Alisha,

Your website is God sent to me as I’ve been looking for something like this for weeks. I love the way you have the recipes organized set up. I’m wondering how do you get the accurate Smart Points if your recipes are not actual weight watchers? So someone who is trying hard to lose weight, how can they be certain they are getting the right portions, protein, fats, carbs, according to the weight watchers calculations. Don’t they use a specific formula for their recipes. Just curious because your recipes look very mouth watering and I want to go shopping today, but I want to make sure the recipes will actually help me to lose the weight.

Hi Tanya, Great question. This is a question we get a lot. Weight Watchers has something called a “Recipe Builder”. The recipe builder allows you to plug in each ingredient, the amounts of each ingredient, and the number of servings the recipe is worth. Then it does the math for you so you have an accurate # of smart points per serving for the recipe.

Awesome website, I am going to fill out the form for the newsletter. I have joined WW more than once now and always end up walking away discouraged simply because I don’t know what to cook and meal planning was stressing me out something fierce. I’ve looked over some of your meal plans and am looking forward to trying some. I just printed the recipe for the Slow Cooker shredded Beef Sandwiches and will try it out tomorrow. Like some others I’m cooking for one and appreciate the servings in the recipes. Thanks for taking some of the stress out of my journey. 🙂

    Hi,
I am new here and I love this page but I cannot find any informaiton on servings per recipe?
Am I simply not seeing it ? Is the recipe quantitfy meant for one person or 3 or 4 ??
Thanks for a short answer 😉

      April 24, 2017 at 8:55 am

Hello Tatjana, Each recipe is typically between 4-8 servings. If you scroll to the bottom of each recipe it will give you the # of servings, amount of one serving, and the smart points for one serving. Hope this helps. 🙂

Welcome to the Meal Planning Mommies community, Margie! 🙂 Happy to have you here. Just so you know, there are many “grannie mamas” that come to Meal Planning Mommies regularly, so you are in good company. There are also many who do not do Weight Watchers on here, and that is perfectly okay as well. Everyone is welcome here. Sorry to hear about your son. Glad you are able to be in the lives of your granddaughters. I’m sure that the blessing of that relationship goes both ways. Blessings, Alisha

I need meal planning. I have never been a planner and need this in my life. I’m tired of eating out and now it is time to start cooking and all my life I have cooked southern meat, potatoes and beans and biscuits. I have been to ww so many times I am a shame to go back. I started when I was 18 and came within 2 lbs of reaching my goal and quit. How stupid was I. . I have struggled with my weight ever since. I have tried just about every diet out there but keep coming back to ww. It is the one that helped me the most, and I was able to stick to ww more than any diet and not feel deprived. It is the cooking in my life that I have a problem with. Eating the frozen meals gets a little old. So it is time I try to plan a meal and get down to cooking. I need help. Yeonne S.
