This has been a fun week on Meal Planning Mommies! We have gotten a great response this week as we shared recipes from Martha McKinnon’s ecookbook, “50 Favorite Slow Cooker Recipes eCookbook for Weight Watchers: SmartPoints Edition”. We kicked off the week introducing the ecookbook with a giveaway (update: giveaway is over) and we are wrapping up the week using recipes from that ecookbook in our Weight Watcher friendly meal plan. The winner of the giveaway will be chosen on Monday at noon, so if you have not entered it is not too late.
Update: The giveaway mentioned is over, but you can check out and purchase Martha’s ebooks here. (affiliate link)
BIG THANKS TO MARTHA
I want to thank Martha McKinnon for her permission to share some of her favorite slow cooker recipes this week and for asking us to do this giveaway this week. We have had a great response and it was clear that you all appreciated her recipes as well. As you can see, the pictures for this week’s meal plan (pictured below) are beautiful. That is because they are taken straight from the ecookbook. There are beautiful pictures of each recipe in the ecookbook.
RESULTS OF OUR GIVEAWAY SURVEY
When you enter into our giveaway you are prompted to answer one question. The question was, “Which of these recipes would you be most likely to try in your home?” We gave you a drop down menu of answers, using the recipes we would be sharing throughout the week. You could choose from any one of these answers:
- Taco Soup (6 WW SP)
- Lasagna Soup (4 WW SP)
- Easy Chicken and Gravy (3 WW SP)
- Homestyle Meatloaf (5 WW SP)
- Hearty Beef Stew (6 WW SP)
- Mel’s Pork Chops (6 WW SP)
At the time of me writing this we have had 150 entries come in. Here is how you have voted so far:
- Taco Soup – 52 votes
- Lasagna Soup – 25 votes
- Easy Chicken and Gravy – 22 votes
- Homestyle Meatloaf – 18 votes
- Hearty Beef Stew – 20 votes
- Mel’s Pork Chops – 13 votes
Taco soup was the clear winner but I was glad to see that there was interest for all of the recipes. I made the taco soup first because it was the one I was most excited about and it definitely was my favorite. Even if you don’t use our whole meal plan this week, definitely try the taco soup! It is my new favorite slow cooker meal! Congratulations Taco Soup! You did it!
Okay, so if you have not entered the giveaway yet, stop and do that now and then come back. Go here to enter into the giveaway for a free copy of Martha’s ecookbook.

CAN YOU PLEASE INCLUDE
THE SERVING SIZES FOR EACH RECIPE?
Yes. We can. One of our readers contacted us asking that we provide servings sizes for the recipes in our meal plans. There are many of you who do not cook for a family of five and need to know if you need to halve the recipes. Of course, you can always freeze the leftovers and eat the leftovers for lunches later in the week but if everyday you have 5 extra servings that is a lot of food in the freezer and might not be very practical. I am going to try to include the serving sizes on our meal planning page so you do not have to click on every recipe to know how many servings each recipe makes. I hope this helps. This week there are more servings than usual because the recipes are slow cooker meals. This may be two week’s worth of meals for you if you are okay with doing leftovers the next day. You can always cross of the ingredients for a particular recipe on the grocery list as well. Make it work for you.

So I love this idea and it has inspired me to get back on track, but my question is, there are no recipes on the weekly planner. Just ingredients. Do I need to get the recipes off of the page and print them as well?
Alisha Hughes says
Hello Jen, Yes and yes. The recipes are on our site and you can print each one if that is easier for you. If you go to the meal plan page it has hyperlinks to the recipes, or you can come back to our site and get them from this page here… http://mealplanningmommies.com//weight-watcher-friendly-meal-plan-with-smart-points-8/ (names of recipes have a link to get the recipe)
