Personal Sized Meatzza Supreme (Pizzas)

May 9, 2020 by Alisha Hughes 1 Comment

It’s a Meatzza! (she says in her best Italian accent, with one hand in the air, palm facing up)

What is a meatzza, you ask? It’s all the yummy things you love about a pizza…on meat. That’s right. Meat is cooked flat, pizza stuff is piled on top, and then it goes back in the oven until the cheese is gooey and delicious. Sounds easy, right? It is, and it tastes every bit as good as the picture looks!

Before we get too far, I should mention that I did not come up with this idea of a “meat pizza.” When I looked online to try to figure out where the idea started, I realized that there are like a kajillion people who have already shared their own version of the meatzza (meatza, meat pizza, etc.), so  I am not really sure who to give credit to for this idea, but I can tell you with certainty where I learned it from!

Where I got this recipe idea from.

If you have been following Meal Planning Mommies for ages (so, like, two of you), you may recall way back forever ago (in January 2016) when I shared about a friend I worked with named Cindy Hicks (pictured above). She was a co-worker/friend of mine. One day, she explained her meal planning method to me, and I was super stoked to share it on here because it was REALLY SMART, and I knew the MPM readers would love it! If you love being organized, efficient, and smart, you HAVE to read this post called, “A Meal Planning System That Works” where I tell you how to do exactly what she did!

Anyway, if you do remember the post, you may recall this image…

When Cindy explained her method to me, I just had to ask, “What is Meatzza?” She explained “Meatzza” as being a gluten-free version of pizza where the crust is replaced with ground beef. I loved the idea so I don’t know why it took me 2.5 years to get this recipe on here! But we are not going to focus on that. We are just going to be glad that it is on here now!

How I made the meatzza.

I made our meatzzas into “personal pizzas,” just for fun. This way everyone got only the ingredients they wanted on top of their pizza. Supreme pizzas are the best, of course, so I made mine as such. No one else in my family agrees with me, so their pizzas were, you know, lame! (Just kidding!)

To make the meat base, I just used ingredients that I would normally use to make meatballs (but with half ground beef and half ground turkey). You can top your meat base with anything you love to eat on a pizza. It’s really that simple.

So, I made this picture (above), and I just have to say something…this blog is so fun! For real! I started my online classes two weeks ago, and it has been over-the-top intense straight from the start. I have been working non-stop to make sure that I was getting everything in on time, and it got the point today where my jaw started to hurt. I knew it was a bad sign. I have been so tense that it’s not healthy.

Don’t forget to take care of yourself!

Tonight I am taking a deep breath. Literally…like, I breathed in and out slowly for a little bit…and then I went out to eat with the fam, took a walk with my husband, and then I plopped down with my laptop to spend some time having fun with pictures I had already taken two weeks ago, like the one above. Creating this post has been a joy for me, and I am grateful to have this blog to come back to when I just want to be creative for the fun of it…while also helping you get some dinner on your table, of course.

So, let’s get to this dinner idea. Trust me, you are not going to go hungry after you eat this dinner! It’s super filling.

Here is what you need:

Ingredients for personal size meatzza supreme on Meal Planning Mommies - Just 5 WW FreeStyle Smart Points per serving! So good and very filling!

1 pound 95% lean ground beef
1 pound 99% lean ground turkey
2 eggs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup Prego Pizzeria Style pizza sauce
2 cups reduced-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
2 ounces turkey pepperoni, cut into cute little triangles
1/4 cup real bacon bits
1/2 green pepper, thinly sliced and chopped
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced and chopped
4 ounces mushrooms, chopped

Here is what you do:

Preheat the oven to 450°F.

In a medium bowl, combine beef, turkey, eggs, Parmesan cheese, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Ingredients for the meat mixture in the meatzza pizza.

Using damp hands, divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions, approximately 4.5 ounces (or 1/2 heaping cup) each. Press each ball of meat into flat circles on 2 large baking sheets.

Flatten out the meat mixture and bake in the oven.

Bake meat circle for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and spread 2 tablespoons sauce over the top of each meat circle. Sprinkle each with 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/4 ounce pepperoni, 1/2 tablespoon bacon bits, and as many veggies as you like.

I have recently changed to keto because of health issues. Since I have such a sweet tooth I had to change from all the carbs and sweet things to something that completely eliminated sugar. I still enjoy your recipes that i can use. Good work.
