Last week was our first week on Meal Planning Mommies to create and post a printable meal plan and grocery list with all the information you need all at once. We were excited to get this going, as it was something Sarah and I have talked about doing for a while now. Since most people tend to do their grocery shopping over the weekend we plan to post these meal plans and grocery lists on Saturdays so you can use them the weekend they are posted.
Sarah and I will alternate weekends, so you will get a gluten free meal plan one week, followed by a Weight Watchers friendly meal plan the next. Since Sarah posted her gluten free meal plan last week I will be sharing my Weight Watchers meal plan this week. I have begun doing weight watchers so my recipes will reflect that. To learn more about my decision to start doing weight watcher you can go here.
Our meal plans will look something like this:
and our grocery lists will look something like this:
We want our website to be a very practical and helpful resource for moms and we feel like this is a step in that direction. We got a great response last week, but we are still tweaking where necessary so if you notice something we can do to make it more user friendly please do not hesitate to drop us a comment or a message.
One helpful piece of feedback we received last week was that some people may have trouble opening a word document on their computer so our solution to that problem is that we will be posting the meal plan and grocery list as word documents and PDF files.
A couple of things worth noting:
On the meal plan page you will see that the names of the meals are connected with a hyperlink to the recipe. Once you are on the recipe page you will be able to print that recipe, or just follow the recipe straight from your iPhone or computer.
On the grocery list you will see that there are numbers beside each food item. Those numbers are connected to the recipe number. For instance, my Pineapple Pork Chops are recipe #6 so you will see that “pineapple” on the grocery list has a #6 next to it. This way if you decide not to make a particular recipe you can cross off the ingredients for that recipe on your grocery list. For instance, if you decided you did not want to make the Pineapple Pork Chops you can cross off anything with a six next to it.
Why Weight Watchers?
This is how I am cooking in my kitchen these days so I figured I would start including how many Weight Watchers points each recipe is worth as an added resource for others who are also doing Weight Watchers. For more details about this choice you can go here. Here are the points values for the recipes in this week’s meal plan:
