Weight Watcher Friendly Meal Plan #2 with FreeStyle Smart Points

January 2, 2016 by Alisha Hughes 38 Comments

Quick update: This meal plan has been updated with the WW FreeStyle Smart Points per serving, but the website these recipes are on has not updated the points on their recipes yet.

We are kicking off the 2016 year with a GREAT Weight Watcher friendly meal plan! This week we are featuring recipes from The Dish by Kitchme website where you can find all kinds of healthy and delicious recipes! It’s a BEAUTIFUL website with TONS of fantastic recipes. Each recipe has a picture and it displays the nutrition facts! I picked 6 of my faves and did the math for you so you could know the Weight Watcher Smart Points for each recipe, if you are counting!

This is my second meal plan using Weight Watcher’s new system of Smart Points and I am eager to share more in the future. For the previous WW friendly meal plan with smart points you can go here.

Here is what is cooking this week:

Shepherd’s Pie
5 WW FreeStyle Smart Points
6 servings

Weight Watchers Shepherd's Pie

Easy Barbecue Chicken
3 WW Free Style Smart Points
4 servings

(recipe says 6 ounces chicken, but I believe it was supposed to say, “16 ounces” so I took the liberty of changing the meal plan/grocery list to reflect the amount of chicken needed for 4 servings)

Ww Easy Barbecued Chicken

Oven Fried Fish
3
WW FreeStyle Smart Points
6 servings

Weight Watcher Oven Fried Fish

Chicken Fried Rice
2 WW FreeStyle Smart Points

Ww Chicken Fried Rice (3 Points)

Ww Parmesan Chicken With Mushroom-Wine Sauce

Easy Chicken Tortilla Soup

The weekly menu of WW Smart points looks really good. Just a question about how many servings do the recipes make.

Thanks Roberta! Great question! We try to stick to 4-8 servings. If it is more than 4 it is great for leftovers the next day. Our kids are young enough that four servings is usually enough for our family of five. To know for sure how many people each recipe serves you can click on the recipe and it will tell you. Hope this helps!

Hi Kathy, If you go to the recipe you will see how many servings each recipe is for. I am going to take a few minutes later today to go back in and plug in the serving sizes for each recipe. Thanks! 🙂

These recipes look great, but I’ve been calculating the WW Smartpoints on many of them, and it seems that the points you’re saying each serving are are much less than what they actually are… For example, the Shepard’s Pie, after I calculated it with my WW SP app calculator, is 7 SP per serving; the Parmesan Mushroom Chicken is actually 8 WW SP, not 4, which is a big difference. How have you been calculating these recipes? Are you changing ingredients from what is on each site?

Good question. I am thinking we are using two different calculators. Allow me to explain… There is a calculator on the WW app that allows you to plug in the nutrition facts to get the # of smart points a food is. There is also an option to do a search for a food and get the number of points. Fruits and veges are zero points (as I am sure you are already aware of). Weight Watchers has created a recipe builder that takes in account that fruits and vegetables are zero points in a recipe. When using the recipe builder you enter in each ingredient and the # of servings of the recipe and it gives you the number of smart points per serving. I am thinking maybe you are using the nutrition facts calculator and I am using the recipe builder calculator. Weight Watchers suggests using the recipe builder when doing a recipe. It does take a little bit more time, but I use the recipe builder to be consistent with what Weight Watchers is doing.

Ahhh you are right! Thank you so much for clarifying that! I didn’t even consider that the nutrition would be different because of veggies. Thanks again!

Thank you- I joined WW but have been so frustrated and almost asked for a refund! Ive done WW before ( many years ago) and I needed a menu plan already done for me ( at lest the first 6 weeks or so) …then after I have my bearings I can allow more freedom in choosing & doing my own meal planning. I logged on & they said they no longer have the menu plans. So happy to find yours in a search! Yeah! It’s still doable~

This website is a godsend. It saves me so much time in meal planning. I cook for both myself, my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. My daughter is on calorie counting and I am doing weight watchers. This plan is great for both of us. Plus either one of us cook the meal if the other one was busy. I love the format with the printable grocery list and menu. I can’t thank you enough this is a super awesome website!!

So happy to have found your website. I am planning on printing a weekly menu and the shopping list before I head to the grocery store today. Are you still offering weekly menus? I see links to a number of them but not sure I saw enough for the year up until now. It will definitely make WW more enjoyable. I tend to serve the same things over and over for lack of ideas on what to prepare. I will definitely try each of the weekly menus you currently offer.
