Our new favorite snack.

(Sandwich Bros. Sponsored Post)

I had a little fun with my kids last week. I turned their snack time into creative time.

I always have a little bit of time between when I get off of work and when the kids get home from school. On this particular day, I used that extra time to chop up some fruits and vegetables and set them out on the table. Then, when they got home, I cooked up a Sandwich Bros. Flatbread Pocket Sandwich for each of them. I encouraged them to be as creative as they wanted with what was on the table. They had a great time and were proud to have me share their creations with you on Meal Planning Mommies.

Preston, Keely, and Kipton Hughes making snacks.

I made an Angus Cheeseburger one for my cheeseburger-loving son and Chicken Melts for my chicken sandwich lovers.

Foods that I set out on the table included:

  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Sliced bananas
  • Sliced strawberries
  • Shredded carrots
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Halved cherry tomatoes
  • Halved grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Sweet bell pepper strips

A healthy snack idea kids will love.

Between the fruits, vegetables, and the protein from the flatbread pockets, the kids had a really nice snack that we all felt good about. These unique sandwiches are delicious, wholesome and the perfect size for snacks and light meals. Sandwich Bros. are stuffed with PREMIUM proteins like 100% Angus Beef, all-white meat chicken, all-natural sausage …and REAL cheese.

Do you want to see some of my kid’s creations?

Preston (my bright 11 year old) decided to look to the stars for his inspiration.

He cut cute little stars into his cucumber slices, and he ate his Angus cheeseburger flatbread pocket until it was the shape of a moon.

He also used cherry tomatoes and carrots to make a sun.

Kip (my super duper picky 7 year old) decided to be brave and bite into cucumbers.

His words: “I don’t like cucumber, but I ate it and washed it down with a grape.” 🙂 He makes me laugh. The nice thing about making food fun is that kids are more likely to try foods they might otherwise shy away from. To make his creation the way he wanted it, he requested two Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches, and he forced himself to eat into a couple more cucumber slices. I love this kid right here:

Kip also wanted to make a monster. Check out these sharp red teeth! 😉

Keely (my creative, social 9 year old) made several people and gave them each names.

I’d like to introduce you to Savannah…

This is Tina.

This is Uncle Buddy.

Keely said, “Fred is my favorite. Do you like him too? The bananas are his ears.”

I got in on the action. How could I not? They made it look like so much fun. I made the “monkey” at the top of this post and this little guy right here:

(I know, mine is not as creative as my children’s, but it tasted just as good.)

Reasons we love Sandwich Bros. Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches.

Okay, so we know that these Sandwich Bros. Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches can be fun, but let’s talk for a second about why my family loves them so much. Sandwich Bros. offered to let my family try these for free. We bought five boxes so we could try lots of different kinds. We tried the Angus Cheeseburgers, Chicken Melts, Gyro Sliders, Egg and Cheese, and the Sausage and Cheese sandwiches. We loved them all, and to be honest, I was sad when we ate the last one because having them in the freezer actually made my life easier. They made snack time and breakfast time super quick and easy.

Whether you are a mom looking for a quick and easy snack for the kids or a professional looking for something healthy and convenient to eat, you will love these. Weight Watchers members will love these because they are a low calorie, low smart point option with built-in portion control.

I loved that they were easy enough for children to cook without the help of a parent.

I showed my oldest son (who is 11 years old) how to take the sandwich out of the plastic wrap, wrap it in a paper towel, and set the microwave to 55 seconds. It made him feel good to take care of getting his snack on his own. The very next day, I was on an important phone call with my brother when the kids got home from school. They were hungry and asking what they could eat. I wanted to continue my conversation so I pulled the Sandwich Bros. sandwiches out of the freezer, put them on the table, pointed them out to my son, and walked away, continuing my conversation. My son was happy to cook them for him and his sister. It was a beautiful thing.

The next day, my youngest son (a 7 year old) asked if he could make his own. I walked him through the steps. He had to stand on a chair to get to our microwave, but he felt very proud of himself as he prepared, and then ate, his snack.

I love how quick these are to make.

Don’t have a lot of time in the morning? No worries. They take 55 seconds to go from frozen to done!

In a hurry to get the kids out the door, and they say, “But mom! I’m hungry!” No worries. 55 seconds, and you’re out the door with a warmed up snack in their hands.

Only get a 15-30 minute break at work? No worries… You know what I am getting at.

55 seconds. That’s it.

For us, that means we can have five of these cooked up in five minutes and be out the door. It’s very rare for us to do anything like that, but I know for parents with kids shuttling from practice to practice, this could be very helpful.

Here is what we did… One night I made a dinner that flopped, and I was trying to come up with a “Plan B” dinner idea. (Hey, it happens!) It occurred to me that we had these in our freezer still. I came up with this fun idea. My husband and I heated up one of these for each of the kids. We told them to get in the car and handed them each a sandwich. Then, we drove to the frozen yogurt shop in our town. They got to eat their flatbread sandwiches in the car (and they thought it was great), and then we all enjoyed a bowl of frozen yogurt afterward! It turned out to be a fun night.

Where can I buy Sandwich Bros. Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches?

These Sandwich Bros. sandwiches are nationally available at Kroger, Costco, Sam’s Club, and many more smaller stores. I found mine at my local grocery store in the freezer aisle close to the breakfast sandwiches and by the frozen meals. If you are not sure if there is a store in your area that carries these, just go to this store finder and plug in your zip code. It will pull up a map and list the stores in your area, along with their addresses.
