Update: A winner has been selected on 11-27-15
Congratulations Caroline!
We are so excited to tell you about our giveaway this week!
The other day I was googling “meal planning” because I wanted to see what other helpful resources were out there, and I fell upon this Plan To Eat website. This resource might not be news to you, but I had not idea it existed! It is a digital meal planning site that is very thoughtfully designed and it actually makes meal planning fun and easy!
Plan to Eat does all these things and more…
- Puts all your recipes (can be from online, a cookbook, your special stash, or recipes from friends) in one place
- Allows you to easily drag your recipes over to your meal plan calendar
- Automatically creates an easy-to-use grocery list for you
- Gives you access to your grocery list from your mobile device while you are in the store!
Bing, bang, boom… here is what you do…
First, you plug in your recipes and they get stored in a way that allows you to see them all in one place, so you can go from this:
to this:
You probably already have several recipes you know your family loves. Plug them in and get them all in one place!
Let me tell you my favorite part of the whole process….this is the part that I thought was so incredibly smart it blew my mind. You can add your recipes straight from a recipe site or you can copy and paste the ingredients and directions. (which still just takes less than a minute) So, for instance, this Greek Lemon Chicken Rice Soup is a family favorite recipe and one I make all the time. I can go to the URL where that recipe is and click “Add to PTE” and it automatically drops that recipe (and picture!) into the Plan to Eat recipe format, like this:
Isn’t that beautiful? And easy? And smart? 🙂 I was able to upload and save 30 recipes in less than ten minutes this way!
Once you have all your recipes entered you can play around with dragging the recipes you want to use over to the meal planning calendar. Plan one week, one month, or however long you like, and it will automatically take the ingredients from those meals and put them onto a grocery list. (maybe that is my favorite part, come to think about it) You can print the grocery list or you can view it from your phone in the store.

Just click on the box next to the ingredient as you drop it in your cart and it will take that ingredient off the list for you.
We love to share practical meal plans here on Meal Planning Mommies and we try to share practical resources that we think will help you with your meal planning. We want you to have many options. Personally, I like having my fun little recipe binder, but this is so practical I couldn’t help but give it a try. I did not expect to love it and I certainly did not expect to be this excited to share it with you!
Two things I just have to mention…
- You can try Plan to Eat for one month for free! No strings attached. They won’t even ask you for your credit card number! Just create a log-in and play around so you can see if this system would be helpful to you.
- If you choose to continue to use Plan to Eat after the 30 day trial you can purchase a subscription for $4.95 a month or $39 a year.
BUT wait, there’s more! 😉
