The end of November through the end of December (from Thanksgiving to Christmas, really) can be a really overwhelming time for many people. Between gatherings, responsibilities, shopping, and celebrating… it can take a lot of us.
This past week I was really feeling it! My husband was sick, and I wanted EVERY great deal I saw, and the house was a mess, and raking needed to happen, and I wanted to do things with my friends, and the kids were off of school and wanted me to play with them, and I wanted to do blogging things and… and… and… The list goes on and on.
I felt tired, stressed, and overwhelmed as I tried to do it all.
It got to the point where even the fun things I was doing felt stressful because I was painfully aware of all of the other things that weren’t getting done. I struggled to live in the moment.
As I thought about creating new recipes to share on here, I felt even more overwhelmed. But then it occurred to me that I am probably not the only one feeling this way right now. And that maybe some of you might really appreciate having a few simple recipes to make for those times when even the thought of making dinner stresses you out.
Stress-reducing dinners.
Yesterday I shared a simple three-step recipe that was a stress-reducer recipe. The Sweet and Soy Chicken and Quinoa recipe took me about 15 minutes to make, and was just 4 WW FreeStyle SP per serving. Soon I will be sharing a soup recipe I made for lunch today that is literally two steps. This is my cooking right now… easy by necessity, healthy by choice.
Today, I want to share 17 of my favorite MPM recipes that are perfect to pull out when you are feeling tired, stressed and overwhelmed. I hope some of these recipes will bring you joy.
Sit down and slow down.
Just one more thing: Once dinner is prepared, please give yourself time to enjoy the food. When you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, in a go-go-go mode, allow yourself to take a break for a few minutes and really enjoy the taste, flavors, and textures of your food. Breathe in and out slowly as you cook and as you eat. I promise it will help!
Okay, let’s get on with this list…
