Giveaway: Baby & Toddler Meals for Dummies Book

April 20, 2009 by mealplanningmommies 87 Comments

The Meal Planning Mommies were asked to review a book Baby and Toddler Meals called “Baby and Toddler Meals for Dummies” by Dawn and Curt Simmons. If I were out shopping or at the library even, I don’t know that I would pick up a “Dummy” book to use as a cookbook.
Big Mistake!

This book is full of practical and very useful tips on preparing meals for babies and toddlers.

Here is a segment from the introduction of this book to give you an idea of the premise:

“Perhaps you’ve strolled the supermarket aisles, looking at all the baby food and toddler snacks, and you’ve wondered, ‘Is this stuff wholesome? Could I make it myself? Could I do better?’ Those are important questions to ask, and the answers are unquivocally, Yes! We tell you how in the pages to follow.”

-p 1, Introduction “Baby & Toddler Meals for Dummies”

You will read about how to puree foods for your tiniest baby to preparing simple meals to more complex meals for your older children. There are chapters on teaching you kitchen basics, a whole chapter devoted to teaching you about cooking healthy for a young child and how to use the food pyramid as well as TONS of great, practical and frugal recipes.

I would not limit the recipes in this book to babies and toddlers, however. I have tried several of them for myself and have added them to my regular meal planning rotation. When I have found myself looking for a new lunch, snack or healthy option for my 14 mo. and 2 1/2 yr. old, I have gone to this book- not to be disappointed!

I would highly encourage you to purchase this book if you have babies or toddlers in your household. It has provided me with a wealth of information as well as recipes that are simple, practical and frugal!

Check out this site to purchase a copy for yourself!

You can also enter our giveaway to win a FREE copy for yourself!

Simply leave a comment with your name (first and last) and e-mail. The contest will run through Today (4-21) Through Saturday (4-25) at noon.

I will then use random.org to pick our winner and contact you via e-mail.

Good Luck!

Hi! I’m breast feeding my 4-month-old (at this moment actually, lol) and I’m really nervous for what we’ll need to do when it comes time for him to eat solids. This book would really help!
