Chili Cheese Pigs in a Blanket

March 9, 2019 by Alisha Hughes 2 Comments

To make these Chili Cheese Pigs in a Blanket, you will only need five ingredients: Canned chili with beans, hot dogs, shredded cheese, tortillas, and eggs to brush over the top. You will love the simplicity of these! Plus, each one is only 2 WW FreeStyle Smart Points and 128 calories! What’s not to love!?

Low calorie versions of the ingredients.

When I used to make pigs in a blanket I would use regular hot dogs, crescent rolls, and sliced cheese, but to keep the points and calories down for these tasty pigs in a blanket, I used lower calorie versions of each ingredient. Here are the brands/types of ingredients I used:

  • Hormel Turkey Chili and Beans
  • 97% fat-free Hebrew National franks
  • Reduced-fat shredded Colby Jack cheese
  • Ole Xtreme Wellness Low Carb High Fiber Tortilla Wraps

You can click here for more low Smart Point tortilla options if your store does not carry the tortillas shown above.

Smart Lunches that are Low in WW FreeStyle Smart Points.

About three years ago (Man! That feels like a long time ago!), I shared a list of easy lunches for people who had a short lunch break at work and needed quick lunch ideas. In the list, I suggested two of the ingredients used in this recipe: the hot dogs and the chili. Also included in the list are a couple of different kinds of “franks,” or hot dogs. The 97% fat-free Hebrew National franks used in this recipe are one of them. The other two low point hot dog options from the list that could also be used in this recipe are:

  • Ball Park Fat Free Beef Franks (1 WW SP)
  • Oscar Mayer Selects Chicken Breast Hot Dog (2 WW SP)

For more quick and easy, heat in the microwave type lunch ideas (and soups/salads/etc.), you can check out the list of Smart Lunch Combinations that are low in Smart Points.

Okay, let’s get to today’s recipe…

Here is what you will need:

3 Ole Xtreme 8-inch wraps, or other 1 WW SP tortillas
3/4 cup fat-free canned chili with beans
3/8 cup reduced-fat shredded Colby Jack or cheddar cheese
6 (97% fat-free) Hebrew National franks
1 egg, beaten

Here is what you do:

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Using a pizza cutter or kitchen shears, cut the tortillas in half. In the center of each tortilla half, scoop 2 tablespoons chili and 1 tablespoon shredded cheese.

Roll 1 hot dog in each tortilla half.

Using a basting brush, brush egg on the outside of the wrapped hot dogs.

Bake 7-10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Makes 6 servings.
One serving is one Chili Cheese Pig in a Blanket.
One serving is just 4 green, 2 blue, and 2 purple points.
