List of Low WW Point Bread and Buns

February 10, 2016 by Alisha Hughes 35 Comments

This list has been updated with the new WW Points values on 1/28/23.

When I first joined Weight Watchers I went up and down the bread aisles of the grocery store trying to weed through the good options from the bad ones. It can be hard to pick out low smart point foods when there are hundreds of thousands of brands and flavors. I mean, ONE WHOLE AISLE dedicated to bread alone!? That’s a lot of bread to sort through! I decided to make some lists on our site for people who are looking for smart options for things like oatmeal, granola bars, cereal, and bread. Today’s list includes breads that are 1 Point per slice and buns that are 2 Points each on the WW program.

healthy life bread

Most store-bought bread and buns are between 2-6 WW Points per slice/bun, but there are several brands that offer lighter options! My favorite brand of bread and buns right now is the “Healthy Life” brand. It has been brought to my attention that this brand is not in all stores. For that reason I have decided to put together a list of the lowest WW Point breads and buns you will find in your grocery store.

HOW TO PRINT OFF THIS LIST.

If you are not sure which brands are at your grocery store you can print off the list at the bottom of this post and take it to the store with you so that when you are going down the bread aisle you will have a good idea of what to look for! I hope this list makes navigating your way through the bread aisle easier.

Which of these stores actually carry the light hot dog buns? We’ve been to the local Walmart, Giant and ShopRite and none of them actually stocked the light hot dog buns!

UPDATE on 2/2/18: I am sorry for recommending ordering from the Healthy Life website. I do not recommend following my old advice now. An MPM reader brought it to my attention that their shipping rates are sky high… and she was right. She was going to order 8 loaves and it was going to cost her $25.35 for shipping. You can check out their shipping prices here before you decide if you are going to order from their site: http://www.healthylifebread.com/pages/where-to-buy/shipping.php.

      Old comment:
Hmmm… I am sorry you weren’t able to find them where you shop, Emily. I know that different areas carry different foods so it is possible that you are not finding these particular brands/kinds of breads in your store. I am able to find them at Target and a store called Town and Country where I live. If you wanted to you could order some online. If you order online I would recommend going with Healthy Life. You can get to their site here: http://www.healthylifebread.com/pages/where-to-buy/buy-online.php They are my personal favorite and they have lots of options. Hope this helps.

I can’t thank you enough! I just started WW again after many years. I lost a large amount of weight and kept it off for a long time and then found myself heavy again, so I am back! I love the new focus on whole foods, but sometimes a girl just needs a slice of bread or a crunchy snack. I was finding people on Instagram raving about quest bars and Premier Protein, but I just wanted to know what regular snacks I could have. Your lists are lifesavers. I went and bought lots of things and just feel better knowing I have some options even though I know fruits and veggies are still the best choice.

I’m confused cuz on the ww app the whole wheat wonder bread is 5 points for 2 slices?

Hmmm… that is very strange. I am not seeing the one that says 5 SP for two slices, but I am seeing a discrepancy in the app, nevertheless. My app says, “Wonder bread, 100% Whole Wheat” is 1 SP per slice. Also on the app it says, “Wonder Soft 100% Whole Wheat Bread” is 2 SP per slice. Also on the app, it says, “Wonder bread, Soft 100%, Whole Wheat” is 3 SP for two slices. Regardless, it is confusing and should be taken off of this list for that reason, so I will take it off. Thanks so much for pointing that out! 🙂

This post is for Sara who likes sandwiches. I have a sandwich every day for lunch and it’s only 3 points. Lite bread at 1 point per slice, 1 Tablespoon lite mayo at 1 point makes 3. I use turkey breast lunch meat which is free and then load up on lettuce and tomato for a nice hearty sandwich. I have been on WW for several months and am down over 30 lbs.
