Benefits of using Coconut Oil

July 20, 2010 by mealplanningmommies 2 Comments

I just posted a hot deal on coconut oil. If you are new to the idea of using coconut oil, and are considering it for the first time along with me, here is a brief paragraph stating some of the benefits of using coconut oil.

“The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.”

If you are interested in reading in more detail how coconut oil helps in each way mentioned, you can go to Organic Facts, here.

(Thank you Organic Facts!)

We use coconut oil in much of our cooking. I like unrefined organic coconut oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. I buy it in the gallon form. One gallon lasts me two months. I also use the coconut oil to make lotion and diaper rash cream for our family. At first I wondered if the price was worth it….and it is….100%. Coconut oil makes things taste divine and our skin feels so good. I am very confident in putting home made skin care products onto my sweet children made from coconut oil.

First time I used coconut oil was for my slight eczema treatment, and I must say that it did work. My skin became smooth and healthy. From then on, I use it for my skin and hair, and also in frying. Got mine from http://products.mercola.com/coconut-oil/ Has anyone tried it as well?
