Healthy snack idea for Kids

July 6, 2015 by Alisha Hughes

fun snack ideas for kids-Meal Planning Mommies

Here is an easy way to serve a healthy snack. My daughter reminded me of a time when we made “fun snacks” last summer and asked if we could do it again. My daughter is our creative kid. The truth is a “fun” snack in our home is really just a snack that looks like something else usually. The possibilities are endless really. This particular day I decided to pull the blueberries, strawberries and celery I had already bought to use for snacks and I put together a flower out of them because it seemed easy.

Okay, so let’s get this party started. Here is all you need.

Cut the celery to look like stems and leaves.

Then make an example version of what you would like your children to try to make. (They will get creative on their own but this is just to get them started thinking creatively)  Give each child all the food they will need to make your creation and let them put it together

Here are my boys making their flowers. My five year old’s didn’t look too bad actually.

Once they have made your creation you can encourage them to make up their own ideas, but my kids just naturally did without me telling them. They can eat their snack as they play with their food. As my kids got creative my daughter decided to make a person and my son started calling his blueberries bombs and saying they were underground and were going to explode. It was a “fun snack” just like Keely asked for.
