Make a DIY Chocolate Ice Cream Shell at Home

I found this video that teaches you how to make a chocolate ice cream topping that starts as a liquid and hardens into a crunchy chocolate shell as it touches the ice cream.

The secret ingredient: Coconut oil! (it melts when hot and hardens when cold)

My friends and I tried it out and it really works, and it really tastes GREAT!!

My friend, Georgia, bought a new frozen treat maker at Aldi! You can freeze fruit and push it through the frozen treat maker and it comes out looking like fruit ice cream! Bonus: If you are doing weight watchers this means that you can make dessert and it will only be ZERO PointsPlus!

She made us strawberry and banana ice cream and we covered the ice cream with the magical chocolate topping shown in the video below:

 

To make your own magical chocolate topping:
Microwave 4 tablespoons of refined coconut oil, 3 ounces of chopped bittersweet chocolate, and a pinch of salt at 50 percent power until smooth (two to four minutes), stirring occasionally.
Cool to room temperature and spoon or pour over ice cream.
