Inexpensive Mother’s Day Present Idea: Prescription verses

May 8, 2015 by Alisha Hughes

It’s Friday and I am working on my gifts for my mother and mother-in-law for Mother’s Day… which is this Sunday. If you still have not come up with a gift for your mother here is an inexpensive “last minute” gift idea that you can make for moms who could use a little encouragement. Prescription encouragement “pills”.

prescription verses

I always had a hard time the first couple of months after having babies. My mother knew this and she decided one year to make me a really special gift. She gave me a prescription bottle, but instead of pills (which I also needed….but that’s another story) inside there were a bunch of verses and encouraging words on slips of paper that were rolled up and taped.

There were instructions to read one a day….and that is just what I did…and it really did help! (Thank you Mom! You’re the best!)

I decided to return the favor this year, and make encouragement prescription bottles for my mother and mother-in-law for Mother’s Day. These are really easy to make and cost next to nothing. To make the “pills” you can print the verses I used below (or come up with your own verses or inspiring quotes) and then cut them into strips, roll them up, and secure them with a little piece of tape. Put the “pills” in an old prescription bottle and label the bottle. I will be giving mine with flowers. Just for fun, you could also put a bunch of m&m’s in a bottle and call them “happy pills” with instructions to take one a day.

If you are having a tough year maybe consider making yourself one? It really did encourage me, so it may just help you too! Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
