Easy Crockpot Sweet Ham

January 9, 2017 by Sarah Anne 1 Comment

I have always been a little intimidated by making a bone-in ham.

Perhaps it’s the size of the meat, the cost and the fact that I don’t want to mess it up.

My friend, Jenn, brought me a ham dinner right after we returned home from the Congo. We were sad that we had missed Easter (and ham!) and so she made us a welcome home Easter meal.

I have the best friends… really.

Soon after that, I told her that I had to have her ham recipe! Since hams are crazy on sale right now, I want to encourage you to go buy one (two, three or four- if you have a deep freeze!) and make this meal.

BONUS: You will have a ham bone to make some comforting ham & beans later on! YES!

This ham cooks overnight in the crock pot on low and then you let it sit in your crock pot on warm the next day until dinnertime. It takes awhile to make, but it really is a cinch to throw together!

Here is what you need:

  • 1 bone-in butt portion ham (whatever size will fit in your crockpot!)
  • 1 20 oz can of crushed pineapple
  • 1/4 cup (more or less depending on how sweet you want it) brown sugar

crushed pineapple

Here is what you do:

  • The night before you want to eat the ham, take ham out of packaging and place in your crock pot. I had to cut a little portion of my ham off in order to get it to fit into my instant pot.
  • Add 1/4 cup brown sugar.
  • Add 1 20 oz can of crushed pineapple (do not drain)
  • Turn crockpot on low and let cook overnight on low (about 12 hours)
  • The next day, open the lid and flip your ham over (try not to splatter yourself!)
  • Turn your crockpot on warm and let it sit all day.
  • Enjoy!
