I was so happy when I received these two beautiful hardcover books in the mail a couple of months ago. When I pulled them out of the package I was impressed with the quality of the books and I got really excited to do the giveaway. I was also impressed that the author, Katie Farrel, took the time to jot me a brief note on the inside front page of them. Have you heard of Katie Farrel before? She is a gem!
Who is Katie Farrel?
I “found” Katie Farrell online when I was doing a google search for great Weight Watcher friendly recipes on the Internet and I stumbled onto her website, Dashing Dish. Three things will jump out at you the second you click on her site:
- SHE IS STINKIN’ ADORABLE! Like… WAY too cute! I can’t stand it.
- Her website it beautifully done! Quality, through and through.
- She looks at health with a holistic approach, taking into consideration mind, body, and spirit.

Katie admits on her blog that her relationship with food, exercise, and her body has gone up and down many times in her life. As she learns to strike a healthy balance to eating, exercising, (and living, in general) she shares what she is learning. She is very transparent with her readers and God has blessed her ministry as she has surrendered her life to Him. To read more of Katie’s story you can go here. After a couple of years of managing her blog she decided it was more than a hobby. It was her ministry and she decided to commit to make it her full time gig. Now she is an author, speaker, and health coach.
What is Dashing Dish?
Dashing Dish is a website full of helpful resources including recipes, devotionals, workouts, meal planning tools and more. The team that puts together the Dashing Dish website worked with Nelson Books to create a beautiful cookbook and devotional and that is consistent with the quality of what is on the Dashing Dish site. I am thrilled to share with you our giveaway this week. This week we will be giving away one free copy of the Dashing Dish cookbook and one free copy of the Dashing Dish devotional to one of our Meal Planning Mommies readers!!
Dashing Dish Cookbook: 100 Simple & Delicious Recipes for Clean Eating
All throughout this week I will be sharing recipes from The Dashing Dish cookbook. The recipes I share will make up the meal plan at the end of the week, where I will share the links to each recipe and the printable grocery list and meal plan. The Dashing Dish cookbook includes “100 simple and delicious recipes for clean eating”, but I will only be sharing six of those recipes with you, so if you want to see the other 94 recipes you will need to enter into our giveaway this week, or purchase a copy of your own! Trust me… you want this cookbook. It is full of great recipes that are good for you with big, beautiful pictures of each recipe.

“DEVOTIONS FOR A HEALTHIER YOU:
FEEDING MIND, BODY, AND SOUL” BOOK.
If you are a MPM reader it will probably not come as a shock to you that I appreciate that Katie speaks from her heart to the heart of the reader. What I loved initially about this devotional (besides the absolutely stunning pictures!) was that Katie had written a message to me on the inside front cover that said, “I pray this book is a blessing to you! Romans 12:2 <3 Katie”.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Do you want to know what God’s will is? I know I do. I want to be in step with God’s will but I also want to sit around wolfing down an entire bag of Doritos while watching “The Bachelorette”, you know what I am saying? As I sat down to type out this post it just happened to be the same day that I read devotional #61 that references Romans 12:1-2, titled, “How to Find God’s Will” where Katie reminds you that God has a unique plan for your life and to find it you take the “next step”. She says that God will reveal His plan in stages instead of all at once.
In her words, “As we step out obediently and in faith, trusting Him each step of the way and proving ourselves faithful to do what He calls us to do, He will show us the next step.”
Each devotional is a very quick read and has a verse, devotional thought, and prayer. Interspersed through the devotionals are engaging pictures and delicious recipes.

Not to keep talking about the pictures, but when you get these books you will see why I keep going on and on about them. Here is a sample of one of the many absolutely precious pictures in her book:
One more thing that I loved about this devotional book was the first few pages where Katie gives, “10 steps to a healthier you”, “Prayers for Health”, and “Identity scriptures” with statements like, “I am chosen and dearly loved” and “I am God’s workmanship” backed up with scripture (Colossians 3:12 and Ephesians 2:10).
Do you think you could use this cookbook and devotional?
One lucky reader will be winning their very own copies of these books by answering one simple question in the giveaway tool below!
Winner will be announced next Saturday, June 4. (This will be the same day we post the Dashing Dish meal plan using the recipes we share throughout the week.)
Good luck!
