Smart Desserts with Weight Watcher Smart Points

12 smart desserts 4 ww smart points or less

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Today is my birthday! And that means cake, right?! Wait a minute! Not so fast! According to Weight Watcher Smart Points tracker, on their app, one “store bought chocolate cake with chocolate frosting” is 25 WW Smart Points! Yikes! That is more than half a day’s points in one piece of cake! I might be rethinking that piece of cake and coming up with a better, smarter option!

One of the biggest challenges of adapting to the new “Beyond the Scale” system (and now the FreeStyle program) of Weight Watcher Smart Points is that too much sugar can knock you off the plan real fast! I told my daughter she could pick one “treat” food for New Years and she picked those Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies with chocolate chip candies. I let her get them and when I got home I checked how many points they were….

TWELVE!!

For one brownie!

Okay so cake and brownies are probably not a smart dessert choice when you are craving something sweet! So what desserts are? I did happen to pick up some  South Beach diet snack bars in the same grocery trip so I had an option that worked for me! One of these bars is about the same size as the cosmic brownie and is only 4 WW Smart Points, and they taste great! They costed a little more, but were so worth it!

One of these days, soon, I will do a post on smart prepackaged dessert ideas that you can grab in a quick hurry, but today I wanted to feature 12 smart dessert ideas that you can make and enjoy for 4 WW FreeStyle Smart Points or less! I hope you are able to find one or two things on this list that will help you stick to your plan this week and not feel deprived.

Alisha’s List of Twelve Smart Desserts worth 0,1,2,3 or 4 WW Smart Points!

Update: This used to be 0 points with the old way of thinking about points. A new rule with the Smart Points system is that any fruit that gets blended has points so one banana blended is actually 5 WW Smart Points! Still not a bad dessert idea, so I am leaving it on this list, but you would definitely want to factor those points into your day.

Pumpkin Spiced Crepes with Pumpkin Butter
4 WW Smart Points

Chocolate Chip Cannoli Bites
3 WW Smart Points

chcolate chip cannolini

Mini Cinnamon Apple Tarts
2 WW Smart Points

Raspberry Kiss Crunchettes

Strawberry Banana Frozen Yogurt

I put in a banana (chopped and frozen) into the WW recipe builder and it said 0…….clicked on the blended/processor button on the bottom of the builder and it jumped to 5 points.

In my opinion, I only click the blended button if I am making a drink or smoothie, which is what this was intended for. If I blend the banana by itself then top it with sliced strawberries. I count it as zero.

I know, right? Personally, I love the idea of a delicious ice cream made of just banana, (and my kids did too!) so I wanted to be in denial. But I finally asked someone on the 24/7 chat on the Weight Watcher website and this was the answer I got… “When we eat something, chewing that food makes our brain know we have eaten something. Drinking the food is different. In addition, the blender is doing what our body would do to break down the food. Think of it this way, some members put 5 fruits in their smoothie. It goes down very easy and quickly. Those same members say that would not eat those same 5 fruits one after the other as they would be too full.”

Exactly, so it would only apply if you were using more than banana or fruit, or having a smoothie or juice.

Hey Brittany, Thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t realize we had a broken link there. I fixed it in the post, but you can get to that recipe here: http://www.skinnytaste.com/pumpkin-cheesecake-shooters/

    Hi Alisha,
I love your snack list. It is so helpful for those moments when I am scouring the freezer for a possible forgotten brownie.lol I have a website of comfort foods using my family’s Italian recipes and I try to lighten them up, but your website helps me with my WW committment. I signed up and spent the money, so I want to be successful, right? I also appreciate desserts and snacks that I can make. Many of us with IBS and other digestive issues can’t eat processed foods because of additives and chemicals that cause us pain and anguish, so your list is very very helpful, and I know what work went into creating it. Bless you for your wonderful mission to help others succeed with their WW committment.I am an 80 year old granny and a recently retired English professor who also appreciates a well written blog.lol

Thanks! I’m so glad you found some things on here that can help you. I appreciate your compliment. It matters to me that my posts aren’t riddled with mistakes. I actually have my husband proof-read my posts most of the time because he is really good at catching things I miss. I’ll be sure to let him know that an English teacher has given us the stamp of approval. ?
