Twinkle Twinkle Little Baked Tortilla Stars

July 3, 2015 by Alisha Hughes

star Italian seasoned crackers-Meal Planning Mommies

This crunchy garlic-and-herb snack tastes great and is fun to make and eat. These oven baked tortilla chips can be made with star-shaped cookie cutters for Independence Day, or a different shape any time of the year. To make it a savory snack you can use the ingredients below, or you can turn your stars into a dessert by switching out the seasonings with cinnamon and sugar!

For directions on how to make cinnamon crispy scoops that can be eaten with applesauce or fruit salsa go here. Here a great fruit salsa recipe you can go here.

Here is what you need to make the garlic and herb version of this snack:

6 flour tortillas (10 inches)
3 Tbsp. butter of margarine, melted
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. pepper

Here is what you do:

Brush both sides of each tortilla with butter. Combine remaining ingredients; sprinkle over one side of tortillas. With a star-shaped cookie cutter, cut out several stars from each tortilla; discard scraps. Place stars on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-9 minutes or until crisp.

And for dessert, how about a Fourth of July cake!? Check out this fun cake that one of my friend’s daughters made when we went to their house on Memorial Day. She used cream cheese frosting. Yum!
