Hoisin Grilled Sirloin – 5 Smart Points

April 4, 2016 by Alisha Hughes 4 Comments

hoisin grilled steak

I have been looking for some recipes that are easy and only require just a few ingredients.  I wanted to get back to some basic, no fuss recipes… like steak! Who doesn’t love steak, right?  This hoisin sauce mixture just requires 4 ingredients and goes great with vegetables, a baked potato, or rice.

Awesome sauce.

Personally, I LOVE A.1. sauce. I could eat grilled steak with A.1. sauce everyday and not tire of it. My husband looks at me funny when I pull out the A.1. sauce and pour it over meat that is not steak, like pork and roast beef, but that’s not weird, right? Does anyone else out there use A.1. sauce on pork? Two tablespoons of A.1. sauce is just 1 WW smart point so it is a good choice if you are trying to find new ways add flavor to meat. This is me with A.1. sauce…

A.1. sauce is awesome sauce

…but sometimes it is good to change things up a little.

Another kind of awesome sauce.

We already had apricot preserves in the fridge from when I made the tropical turkey and spinach salad a little while back so I thought this would be a good way to use some of that up. If you are wondering what to do with the extra apricot preserves after you make this steak you may want to give the tropical turkey and spinach salad a try. But for now, how about some steak?

Here is what you need:

1 T. apricot preserves
1 lime
1/8 t. crushed red pepper
1 lb. top sirloin

Here is what you do:

  2. Combine first 4 ingredients, stirring with a whisk.

Sprinkle salt over beef. Add beef to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side of until desired degree of doneness. Brush both sides of beef with hoisin mixture. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes.

Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.  Cut beef across grain into thin slices.

I’m not a huge fan of steak unless it’s the most tender cut but when I have steak, I love A1 sauce on it AND on a baked potato. I even like it when it gets on my corn on the cob. Great Summer meal on the grill.
